The Dash Award is a RED beta halter with the nameplate "Dash 11", in memory of Mary and Jack Graff's minature horse, Dash, who was never able to compete in a marathon. Mary rescued Dash, and hoped to get him back to health and soundness, but it was not to be. In memory of Dash and his great effort to recover, the Dash Award recognizes the effort put forth by the horses, ponies and VSE's and their drivers in the Training Level Marathon. The halter is a symbol of the teamwork needed to be successful in the marathon, and should be used with pride.
All entries in Training Level are automatically entered in this contest.
The winner will be the competitor who gets closest to the allowed time on section E, staying within the window, and without earning penalties in any section of the marathon.
If there is a tie after the marathon, the first name drawn from the list of those tied competitors will receive the award, which will be presented when other awards for the marathon are presented.
